Table tennis (also known as ping-pong) - a game in which 2 (singles - singles) or 4 people (doubles - doubles, mixed) participate, involving bouncing the ball with a racket so that it flew over the net or next to the net on the other half of the table. The ball can hit the table only once (on the opponent's half), it is not allowed to bounce the ball from the air, as it is in tennis. Points are awarded, among others for hits that the opponent did not pick up. Table tennis is one of the most popular games in the world, considering the number of players practicing this sport.
Table tennis at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo will feature 172 table tennis players (equally distributed between men and women) competing in both the singles and team events, as well as a new mixed doubles event.
